TractorTest performs power measurement with one of our PTO dynamometers, where the entire power and torque curve is described.
At the same time during testing, extended logging is carried out on the vehicle, either external mounted physical sensors and/or extended CAN-Bus data logging. This gives an indication of the mechanical condition of the engine and the overall efficiency of the entire vehicle.
The logging system describes, among other things, the fuel consumption and the general efficiency.
If the gearbox or hydraulic system is misadjusted, this will affect the test. In addition to this, the test can also reveal any future faults on the vehicle, without necessarily having any fault codes.
Our datalogging system do also make it possible to compare different brands, or compare results before and after and repair.
Below are examples of test reports comparing different tractor models within the same class.
It should be noted that the tests were carried out on different dates and therefore under different weather conditions, which will affect the measurements. In addition, the condition and hours on the different tractors are also very different:
Claas Axion 830 Tier4 vs. Claas Axion 830 Tier5
John Deere 8230 vs. John Deere 8530
John Deere 8245r vs. John Deere 8320r
Over the years we have tested hundreds og agricultural, construction and industrial engines.
We therefore have a huge database of performance values, which can be used to set a line of the real durability of the engine.
Below you see some plots of testdata where min/max values have been added. This guideline helps ease define the condition of the engine, and also guides on the fuel efficiency.

The logging system code is written by MadsTech Engineering and are therefore first movers by making the absolutely highest quality work, due to our multibrand data acquisition system on heavy offroad mobile machinery.
The datalogging benchmarking tool have been under constant development over 7 years now, and MadsTech keeps developing to ensure maximum efficiency on newest brands.
TractorTest has made hundreds of test reports within the last 7 years, and have therefore a huge database of logging values from all kind of different vehicle or engine manufacturers. In this way when testing, we always have the possibility to compare whether there is an opportunity for optimization or whether repairs need to be made - before a total breakdown!
